Dear Captains and Team Reps, Shiok has the honour of organising the 1st National Club Series in Singapore. This will be a great chance for clubs from all different levels to play against eachother in preparation for other tournaments, and of course the Singapore Open in August. With this in mind, we would like to propose the following format for the National Club Series. This league will provide 5 weekends of intense ultimate competition and Disc Golf. We feel that all 3 playing surfaces, beach, field and indoor, will provide different challenges to each club and will provide a different feel to the game of ultimate. With that said, if we cannot secure an indoor venue, we will continue on with the proposed schedule without the indoor weekend. Therefore, the indoor venue is To Be Confirmed.

What: Disc Golf competition Where: Next to Bedok MRT/Bus Interchange When: Saturday June 21 2008, 9am - 6pm Who: Anybody! The UPA(S) will host a one-day disc golf competition, open to the public, on a temporary 9-hole course set on the open site adjacent to Bedok Bus Interchange, corner of New Upper Changi Road and Bedok North Avenue 1. Disc golf is played much like traditional golf. Instead of a ball and clubs, however, players use a flying disc. The sport shares with "ball golf" the object of completing each hole in the fewest number of strokes (or, in the case of disc golf, fewest number of throws). A golf disc is thrown from a tee area to a target, which is the "hole". The hole consists of a net and basket. As a player progresses down the fairway, he or she must make each consecutive shot from the spot where the previous throw has landed. The trees, shrubs, and terrain changes located in and around the fairways provide challenging obstacles for the golfer. Finally, the "putt" lands in the basket and the hole is completed. Sign up form soon on singaporeultimate.com Competition Divisions: | UPA(S) club competition | School division | Corporate/ Community Division | Individual | | Open to clubs in National Club Series No entry fee Top 4 male, 3 female scorers count toward team total Club winners Individual m/f winners | Secondary/ Tertiary 4 member teams boys/girls/mixed $5/pax | 4 member teams male/female/mixed $10/pax | male/female divisions $10/pax | |

Right up to the night before leaving for Bali’s Nusantara Cup, we were still trying to put the team together. Booking tickets had been a problem for a lot of players. On Thursday morning, as most of us were boarding our flights, one teammate even chanced it at the airport, hoping to get the flight he needed. No luck, we would have to do without his left-handed prowess. So the Shiok team was complete: 12 men, 5 women — and 400kilos of sunscreen. |

Hi everyone, The WFDF 2008 World Ultimate & Guts Championships (please see details at www.wugc2008.com) are in Vancouver, Canada, 2-9 Aug 2008. To-date, we are not sure of the level of interest in this championship. Therefore, on behalf of the UPA(S), I am trying to find out who wants to go to WUGC 2008, i.e. willing & able to commit the time & finances. Once we have an idea of the interest, then we can move forward. Club leaders, please assist by getting replies from your teams. I will also post this query on the SgUlt website forum. Would very much appreciate your replies to me by Fri, 18 Apr 2008. Some event milestones to note: - 10 May 2008...Team fees increase 25% (early-bird period ends) - 24 May 2008...Player fees increase 25% (early-bird period ends) - 7 Jun 2008...Team registration closes, all payments due - 21 Jun 2008...Player registration closes, all payments due - 19 Jul 2008...Rosters frozen, no player changesMobile 9238 1827 |

Dear members of UPA(S), I’m writing to all of you for the very first time in my capacity as President. I would like to thank you for putting your trust in me and my team of Exco members to run the UPA (S) this year. There are many things that we have in store for the year and this short note attempts to provide an update to everyone in our community regarding the National Team Training Programme. .... |
